folkus has a mandate to promote Canadian talent, with an emphasis on the local for opening acts. We are most interested in roots-based acts, but the definition of roots is broad as you can see from our past shows. Our concerts are held on four (4) Saturday evenings through the winter months.
We are interested in hearing from artists eager to play an intimate, acoustic, soft seat environment. The house holds up to 210 audience members. Artists are invited to bring merchandise; we provide volunteers for your table and you retain your revenue.
We offer an enthusiastic, attentive audience, pre-show dinner, a clean, cosy green room stocked with snacks and beverages, and of course, superb acoustics.
We also provide sound operators, lighting, and road crew. You are welcome to record off the board as well. The hall is accessible, with an elevator.
The Ron Caron Auditorium (our venue) at the Almonte Old Town Hall has been used for CBC Radio 2 Classical concerts as well as The Vinyl Cafe.
We are also able to provide a Steinway Concert Grand piano on request.
