Folkus Concert Series is recruiting! Do you love live music? Do you want a chance to volunteer, to meet people, to contribute to the community? Come volunteer with us!
Folkus Concert Series is approaching its 20th birthday – our first show at the Almonte Old Town Hall was in January 2002.
Each of our four core concerts takes place on a Saturday evening: one each in January, February, March and April. Volunteers would be expected to attend all the shows, and some roles also involve meetings.
Please note that all those attending our shows in person must be fully vaccinated and will be wearing masks.
Who are we looking for?
Publicity Director The volunteer in this role must love live music, particularly roots and folk music. The person needs strong writing skills, a facility with social media and social media advertising, particularly Facebook and Instagram, and be willing to attend committee meetings (in person or virtually) through the year.
Time commitment 1 hour/month for meetings plus writing time in advance of the season and during the season.
Door people will be responsible for checking guests off on the ticket list and running a screening tool, so people should be comfortable with tablets and simple technology.
A great place for a friendly, welcoming personality, and a great chance to get a feel for how Folkus works.
Committee meetings are not required.
Stage Manager: The stage manager at Folkus is responsible for timing and supporting our techs. You will be liaising with techs and artists and getting people from the green room to backstage in time. There are approximately 39 (steep) steps backstage.
You get a prime spot to see the show, but you are backstage. It’s a great chance to learn more about sound and lighting tech.
Participation in committee meetings is optional.
